I created this hat for an Instagram auction to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation. What is better than a Mickey hat? A Mickey Hat with Sparkles!!! It is an easy and basic beanie pattern done in chunky yarn so it works up quickly. I used Deborah Norville Serenity Chunky Sequins Yarn for this hat. It is a chunky acrylic yarn with a thread with sequins attached twisted in. I picked up this yarn on clearance and made several hats from it.
Pattern: Sparkle Mickey Beanie
You will need:
Size L 8.00mm crochet hook
Approximately 120 yds of #5 bulky weight yarn. I used 2 skeins of Deborah Norville Serenity Chunky Sequins Yarn (93 yds each. I used 1.5 skeins of the yarn)
Yarn needle to weave in ends.
This pattern is written for kid and adult sizes. The kids size is approximately 18 inches in circumference and 7 inches in length and will fit most children ages 4-10. The adult size hats is approximately 20 inches in circumference and 8 inches in length.
Note: This pattern is worked in the round with no turning chains or joins between rows.

Using the Magic Circle method work 6 single crochet (sc) stitches.
Round 1: Work 2 sc in each stitch (st) in round (12 sc)
Round 2: * Work 2 sc into next st, work 1 sc into next st* repeat from * around (18 sc)
Round 3: *Work 1 sc each into next 2 st, work 2 sc into next st* repeat from * around (24 sc)
Round 4: * Work 2 sc into next st, work 1 sc each into next 3 st* repeat from * around (30 sc)
Round 5: *Work 1 sc each into next 4 st, work 2 sc into next st* repeat from * around (36 sc)

Round 8: *Work 2 sc into next st, work 1 st each into next 23 st* repeat from * around (50 sc)
Next Round: Work 1 sc into each st around (42 or 50)
For kid’s size repeat for 8 rounds or to desired length. Finish off
For adult’s size repeat for 11 rounds or to desired length. Finish off
Ears (2 each)
The ears are made using 2 strands of the yarn, making them extra thick so they will stand up on the hat.
Holding 2 strands of the yarn together use the Magic Circle method work 6 single crochet (sc) stitches.
Round 1: Work 2 sc in each stitch (st) in round (12 sc)
Round 2: * Work 2 sc into next st, work 1 sc into next st* repeat from * around (18 sc)
Round 3: *Work 1 sc each into next 2 st, work 2 sc into next st* repeat from * around (24 sc). Finish off leaving a long tail of yarn to use for sewing.
Sew the ears onto the hat. I found wip stitch works best stitch the edge of the ears onto the top edge of the hat.
Happy Hooking!!!
